Scarperia, 20 October – Who has never dreamed of driving a Formula 1 car? For some very special Ferrari customers this dream can come true. Since 2003 Maranello’s F1 Clienti department has allowed a small group of people to buy F1 cars and has enabled those who bought them earlier to use them to the full. Of course Ferrari holds off for two years before selling a single-seater to stop the car’s technological and mechanical equipment from falling into the hands of its Formula 1 rivals.
The activities of the Department mean that it won’t just be Scuderia Ferrari putting on a show at the World Finals in Mugello. Indeed, the F1 Clienti owners will be there to thrill the fans thronging the paddock and the stands for the event. Their contribution will make for a record number of cars on the track, such as the F2002 and the F2004 that swept all before them in Formula 1 at the time of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, but also the 412 T2, the last F1 car with a 12-cylinder engine used in the 1995 season.
The F1 clienti will also have two exceptional tutors at their disposal in Scuderia Ferrari test drivers Marc Gené and Davide Rigon, who will reveal all the secrets of the single-seaters and help make an already unique experience even better. The pair will be available to the gentlemen drivers to help them perfect their set-up and get a feel for the starting procedure, one of the most complicated aspects to handle. Then of course given that Mugello is such a spectacular track the pleasure will be doubled: obviously so for the drivers but also for fans in the stands who will hear the sound of the engines that have shaped the history of Formula 1 and have written many of the Scuderia’s victorious pages.
